About centimeters to inches conversion

1 cm = 0.393701 in
1 in = 2.54 cm
in = cm × 0.3937007874

Good to know and limitations

Tips

  • Screen sizes are quoted as the diagonal. A 27 in monitor has a diagonal of 68.58 cm.
  • To read a decimal on a tape measure, multiply the decimal part by 16: 0.37 in is about 6/16, or 3/8 in.
  • Uses the international definitions (1 inch = 25.4 mm exactly, 1 mile = 1,609.344 m). The older US survey foot is not used.
  • Nautical miles, light-years and similar units are not available.
  • Results show up to 6 decimal places. Values are not rounded during calculation, and a non-zero result that would display as 0 is shown in scientific notation.
